Autonomous asparagus harvesting
Terra is an autonomous asparagus harvesting machine that completely replaces manual harvesting. This prevents issues such as labor shortages and the risk of injury while working. Due to its compact size and light weight, it is easy to operate and prevents soil compaction.
Field research at a farm located near Frankfurt
Asparagus harvesting is a highly laborious task, predominantly carried out manually to this day. Many seasonal workers from abroad travel to Germany to harvest the numerous asparagus fields daily. However, this hard work leads to significant physical discomfort over time (such as back pain).

Replacing manual harvesting
Key aspects:
Overview
Harvesting blade
Harvesting module
Harvesting components with unrestricted mobility: Upon detection of an asparagus spear by the sensor-equipped harvesting blade, it autonomously maneuvers to the target and extracts it.
Storage box
The asparagus that is being harvested will be dropped of here. When it fills up, the farmer will pick it up and proceed with further steps, such as washing and cutting.
3D printed model
Frame was printed via the laser sintering method. The individual components were FDM printed. After everything has been assembled, the model has been painted white.
